You may have noticed that we took a break from posting right around Christmas… that’s because Semi-Retired Captain Jack and family were in full vacation mode…in Mexico!
That’s right, Jack and family spent the holidays in the city of Mérida, bringing North Pole vibes to southern climes (meaning, yes, of course he brought his Santa outfit 🎅).
He visited Mayan ruins, ate lots of good food, fantasized about changing out the farm’s kubota for a vintage VW bug to trundle around the orchards in (and then thought better of it), tried lots of local fruit from the market and participated in a few Mexican holiday traditions. Walking around the block with a suitcase for safe travels.
And most importantly, he missed a few weeks of the white stuff, although he did have to wear long pants once or twice because they were having a cold front in Mérida….it got down to 70°F!
From Semi-Retired Captain Jack and all the rest of us at McDougal Orchards, we hope you had a wonderful holiday season! @ Mérida, Yucatan
