About the Zestar! apple

Zestar! is an early season apple that comes from the University of Minnesota breeding program, the same program that brought us Honeycrisp (and yes, the “!” is trademarked into the name!). The flesh is white with a crisp texture and sweet-tart flavor, and a nice texture for cooking. This has become one of our favorite early season apples.

McDougal Orchards grows Zestar! apples. Located only 45 minutes from Portland, ME and 1.5 hours from Boston, MA, McDougal Orchards is easy to get to. Come enjoy picking your own fruit during the typical harvest season of Late August, enjoy Apple Cider Donuts at Capt.
